The Handicap market can be your best betting friend if you know how to use it. But did you know that there are 2 types of Handicap betting?
- European Handicap
- Asian Handicap
In this article you will learn how they work and how to use them to your advantage. However, we are going to give you a “taste”: the Handicap can improve the odds of an event and increase your potential earnings.
The European Handicap is considered to be the simplest of these two. However, the Asian Handicap is also very popular because it gives more options.
European Handicap
Let’s start with the simplest. In the European Handicap you either win everything or you lose everything, with no refund of the amount invested.
European Handicap is basically a 3-way bet, similar to a 1X2 match result bet. That is why it is also found as “Single handicap” or “3-way handicap”. In any match with a significant difference in strength between the two teams, a handicap is placed on the outsider, in order to make it harder for the favourite to win the bet.
Asian Handicap
In Asia you are not restricted to just losing or winning everything, as you can win or lose part of the stake.
There are 3 Asian lines:
- Negatives
- Positive
- Null
The Asian Handicap is recognised for working with decimal places, such as 0.25; 0.50; 0.75; 1.00; 1.25; 1.50; 1.75 , etc.
When you are starting to bet, it is normal to want to escape the Handicap markets. At first they are really confused.
However, as you can see in this article, they are not that complex to understand. To make sure that you are really comfortable with this concept and its application in sports betting.
